The informal organizational meeting of the ‘interview team’ began at 5:00 pm

In a round table discussion, the Board and members of the interview team gave their ideas and opinions on the overall goal of the interview process, time frame and how to best to put together an implementation plan. The focus of discussion was what charge would be given to the interview team by the BOS. It was the general consensus that it would be to look for people who fit the criteria of the basic job description (RSA-based) and who fits the needs of the Town of Bristol and its residents. Everyone present was in agreement to Marie Ross’s question of structuring (similar to school district) with that being: "No one member has any authority and the Board has only one employee, the Superintendent." Communication was stressed as vital to this project and for the future success of the Town government. Some suggestions were made to break up into pairs or small groups to do some brain-storming on needs of the community, questions to be asked, facilitating process, etc.

It was decided that the BOS would set the priorities and inform the interview team so they can incorporate those items into their process. It was suggested to meet with the Dept. heads to get their input on concerns, what they would like to see, etc. The Board agreed that they liked the idea that PSU had recently used with a "day in Plymouth" for their final interview candidates. No definite plans were made, but everyone agreed that it would be a good idea to have the final three/four candidates spend a day in Bristol to see the Town, the various departments and have a chance to interact with the community and the employees.

No date was set for the next meeting. The BOS will discuss at next week’s meeting and will either call or email everyone when that date/time has been set.

The meeting ended at 6:00 pm to that the regular meeting could begin at the Town Hall on Summer St.
