Minutes of 01-11-06 Work Session

Present: Susan Duncan, Rick Alpers Select Board, Bob Veloski – William Phinney, Police Commissioner

Absent Angela Mahoney, Assessing Clerk, Bruce Van Derven Selectmen

Chairwoman Duncan called the meeting to order at 7:00pm.

Ms Duncan brought up the issue of Engine 2 and the mechanical problems.

Rick Alpers made a motion to approve leasing a 1977 American LaFrance fire engine at a rate of $20 per day until the first of April for a total of approximately $1,800. Motion Seconded by Ms. Duncan. Motion passed.

Rick Alpers made a motion to have the Fire Department explore the best method for disposing of Engine 2 to get the best price for the Town of Bristol. Motion seconded by Ms. Duncan. Motion Passed.

Ms. Duncan started going through the proposed budget line by line.

There was a long discussion over the proposed budget with the following changes made by the BOS:

01-4130-625 EX Postage increased by $200

01-4150-391 FA Tax Sale review with tax collector

01-4153-320 Legal General reduced to $25,000

01-4153-670 Legal Law Books increased to $500

01-4155-240 Tuition Reimbursement reduced to $6,000

01-4191-320 PB Legal reduced to $1,000

01-4194-431 GGB Radio Site Maint. further review

01-4195-650 Cem Appropriation reduced to $1,500

01-4195-651 Homeland further review

01-4197-836 Pasquaney Garden Club reduce to $700

01-4210-120 New Patrolman further review

01-4210-342 PD Computer Supplies break out maintenance

01-4220-198 FD Accrued Benefits increase to $11,800

01-4220-350 FD Medical Expenses reduced to $1,500

01-4230-810 Forestry New Equip reduced to $600

01-4230-812 Forestry Hose reduced to $400

01-4290-290 EM Travel/Meetings reduced to $600

01-4290-810 EM New Equip reduced to $1,000

01-4312-390 Resurfacing Roads reduced to $168,520

01-4520-650 X-mas lights reduced to $3,250

01-4521-431 Avery Crouse Improvements increased to $3,000

01-4522-820 KP Master Plan reduced to $32,000

01-4550-190 Librarian reduced to $16,578

01-4550-191 Assistants reduced to $20,086

01-4550-220 FICA reduced to $2,416

1-4550-225 Medicare reduced to $565

01-4583-891 Outside Details reduced to $0

01-4612-120 HDC Secretary reduced to $0

01-4612-220 HDC FICA reduced to $0

01-4612-225 HDC Medicare reduced to $0

01-4652-572 LR Comm Svcs Council increased to $500

01-4711-985 RT 104 Bridge Proj further review

Total changes to date decrease the proposed budget by $92,855

The review will continue on 1/12/06 at 7:30pm.

Ms. Duncan made a motion to authorize the TA to bring in temporary help in the absence of the Secretary/Assessing Clerk, seconded by Mr. Alpers. Motion passed.

Ms. Duncan asked the TA to set up a meeting to issue the Boston Post Cane on 1/16/06 between 5:00 and 5:30pm.

Ms. Duncan requested the use of Century Schoolbook as the font for the annual report, Mr. Alpers agreed.

Ms. Duncan made a motion to close the meeting, seconded by Mr. Alpers. Motion passed.

Susan Duncan closed the meeting at 9:15pm.
