MISSION OF THE BRISTOL POLICE DEPARTMENT
We, the Bristol Police Department, exist to serve all people within our
jurisdiction with respect, fairness and compassion. We are committed to the
prevention of crime and the protection of life and property, the preservation of
peace, order and safety, the enforcement of laws and ordinances, and the
safeguarding of constitutional guarantees. With community service as our
foundation, and as an agency of municipals government, the Bristol Police
Department will abide by sound principles of administration to carry out its
mission in as effective and efficient a manner as possible. Our objective is to
maintain cooperation with governmental and private agencies providing services
within the Town of Bristol. To fulfill its mission, the Bristol Police
Department is dedicated to providing a quality work environment and development
of its members through effective training and leadership.
BRISTOL POLICE DEPARTMENT GOALS
The Bristol Police Department will provide quality service to earn the respect
and confidence of our customers with community service as our foundation. Reduce
the impact of crime, fear of crime, and public disorder on the daily lives of
the residents of Bristol through patrol, crime prevention, criminal
investigation, educational programs and law enforcement. Respond to calls for
service and other public needs promptly in order to
provide services, which resolve problems and protect persons and property. The
Bristol Police Department will provide public service through individual
attention with integrity and professionalism. The Bristol Police Department will
treat our customers and colleagues in a fair and equitable manner without regard
to race, gender, religion or national origin.
The Bristol Police Department will develop and maintain open relationships and
communications with other agencies, organizations and the public at large. The
Bristol Police Department will protect safe and orderly transportation through
traffic direction, law enforcement, and accident investigations. The Bristol
Police Department will apply common sense and good judgment in carrying out our
police duties for the purpose of maintaining public confidence in the police
department and its employees.
The Bristol Police Department will maintain a work environment that is pleasant
and considers employee and department needs. The Bristol Police Department will
recruit and retain the best possible employees and will encourage and promote
professionalism among department
