The meeting was opened and called to order at 7:00 p.m. Robin Fitzgerald was asked to sit in for David Bernier.
MINUTES of 03OCT06: There was only one substantive change to the minutes: under "Other Business," Ms. Gordon asked that the second sentence of the paragraph be re-written to read "Ms. Gordon said that state law stipulates that public officials cannot hold a public meeting without prior public notice." Mr. Douglas made a MOTION, seconded by Ms. Gordon, to ACCEPT THE MINUTES as amended. The motion CARRIED.
Hire of HDC Secretary: Mr. Dingman said that the new Town Manager has begun a process on interviewing candidates to fill this position and that the position could be filled by the time of our December meeting.
Other Business: the Commission discussed proposed language for temporary signage to add to the Historic District Ordinance under the "Definitions" section. The language was crafted to read as follows:
Temporary sign: a non-electric sign constructed of cloth, canvas, fabric or other light material that shall be displayed for a short period of time not to exceed sixty (60) days in any one calendar year.
Mr. Dingman agreed to present this language to the members of the Planning Board so that they might consider placing it on the March 2007 town ballot.

With no further business, Ms. Heaney made a MOTION, seconded by Mr. Douglas, to adjourn at 8:15 p.m. The motion CARRIED.
