ABSENT: Jen Jones (alternate; conflict), Mike McGrath (alternate; conflict).

The meeting was opened and called to order at 7:20 p.m.

DISCUSSION: Members of the commission were asked to introduce themselves and speak a bit about their respective backgrounds, as well as their interests in being a part of the commission.

Afterwards, Clay Dingman spoke about the primary reasons for forming the Historic District Commission, including its purpose in fulfilling part of Bristol’s Master Plan. He continued by speaking about how the warrant article at the 2005 town meeting had given the town the authority to appoint a commission and the key task at hand for the commission over the course of the next year: to prepare the Historic District Ordinance for the March 2006 town meeting.

Further discussion was held about the steps involved with preparing the ordinance, specifically inventorying historic structures, mapping the historic district boundaries, defining commission regulations, and building support in the town for the ordinance.

The commission discussed the merits of preparing the ordinance for March 2006 to include only the district boundaries or both the district boundaries and the first set of commission regulations.

Clay Dingman made a motion, seconded by Sandra Heaney, to elect Larry Douglas as vice chair for the same term. The motion carried.

NEXT MEETING: will be held on July 12.

Respectfully submitted,

Clay Dingman, Chairman
