The meeting was opened and called to order at 7:00 p.m.

MINUTES of 11OCT05: There were no changes to the minutes. Sandra Heaney made a motion, seconded by Clay Dingman, to accept the minutes. The motion carried.

DISCUSSION (continuing): The commission continued discussion on mapping the historic district in preparation of the Historic District Ordinance for the town’s 2006 meeting.

After discussion concluded it was agreed that the Commission would propose as an Historic District those buildings within the Central Business District (CBD) that are currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places, specifically: 1 Summer Street, 2-27 Central Square, 1-3 North Main Street, and 2 South Main Street (37 acres, 12 buildings, 1 structure).

The commission felt that the town would be more willing to pass an ordinance based on an area bounded by structures already recognized for historical significance by the National Register/Department of Interior.

In addition, it was proposed that the District also include the area bounded by these buildings (for instance, Central Square), and a buffer area comprising the properties adjacent to these buildings.

NEXT MEETING: will be held on December 13.

With no further business, Clay Dingman made a motion, seconded by Sandra Heaney, to adjourn at 8:10 p.m. The motion carried.

Respectfully submitted,

Clay Dingman, Chairman
