A quorum of the CIP committee participated in a tour of the Highway Department.  Mark Bucklin, Highway Superintendent, escorted the committee and explained the various aspects.  He pointed out that he tries to find equipment that will do the job for the least cost and that, in many cases, they have taken equipment being thrown out by other departments and worked on them until they would function for their highway needs (such as the generator that they use now to open their doors in case the electricity goes out).  They also have taken old part to form equipment, such as the chipper that they use.  Mr. Bucklin is hoping that Concord will put in a single stream recycling system so that he can rearrange our present operation at a minimal cost.  He can use the two bins we now have (one for recyclable materials and the other for trash).  He would move them over from the present location for

better accessibility.

The tour was very enlightening and the CIP committee thanked Mr. Bucklin for his time.
